This quick start assumes AcornOps is deployed and you are connecting your first Linux VM.

Before you begin

You need:
  • root or sudo access to an Ubuntu 24.04 LTS VM booted with systemd;
  • Bash, curl, tar, and sha256sum;
  • Node.js 22 or newer at /usr/bin/node;
  • outbound HTTPS access to the configured AgentV release host and AcornOps API.

1. Create a workspace

Sign in to the management console and select Create New Workspace.
  1. Enter a workspace name.
  2. Optionally invite members now, or continue without adding anyone.
  3. If no platform AI provider is inherited, add a provider API key when prompted.

2. Register the VM

Open Virtual Machines, select Connect VM, and enter a recognizable VM name. Keep the default Read-only access for diagnostics only. If the VM must support service recovery, select Read-write and add each exact restartable systemd .service unit. Then select Continue to Install Agent. The production-default run policy asks for approval before changes. Administrators can change approval behavior directly in VM Settings. Changing the root-owned service allowlist generates a separate one-use command to run on the VM.

3. Install AgentV

Copy the single generated command and run it on the intended Linux host before the 15-minute enrollment countdown expires. The command is sensitive until its one-use token is exchanged; do not save or share it. Return to the management console and wait for Agent connected, then select Done.

4. Start a chat

Open the connected VM, select Chat Assistant, and prompt it with a focused question such as:
Summarize this VM’s health and anything that needs attention.
